Hello everybody, it’s Drew, welcome to our recipe page. Today, I’m gonna show you how to prepare a special dish, vadai. It is one of my favorites. For mine, I’m gonna make it a little bit tasty. This will be really delicious.

This video is about traditional South Indian breakfast dish called Medhu vada. It is made up with ground skinned black gram, spiced up with pepper, cumin. Vadai is a popular snack/ breakfast dish prepared with lentils.

Vadai is one of the most popular of recent trending foods on earth. It’s simple, it’s fast, it tastes yummy. It is appreciated by millions every day. They’re fine and they look wonderful. Vadai is something which I have loved my entire life.

To get started with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can cook vadai using 5 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Vadai:
  1. Take 100 grams dhal (red split lentils)
  2. Take 4 onion, chopped
  3. Get 5 green chili, chopped
  4. Prepare 1 salt (to the taste)
  5. Prepare 1/2 tbsp chili powder (can adjust to the taste)

Thayir vadai is the South Indian variation of dahi vada. Making thayir vadai does take some time as the vadas have to be fried before assembling. Medhu Vadai / Ulundu Vadai is a traditional South Indian dish which can be had as a breakfast, snack or even as an accompaniment to lunch. Instructions to make Vadai:
  1. Keep dhal (red split lentils) in water for 2hours til soaked. Remove from water and let water drain. (Following photo will help to choose the right type of dhal)
  2. Grind dhal (red split lentils) partially. At the end there should be ground as well as unground dhal in the mixture (note- water content should be minimal)
  3. Add onion, chili powder, green chili and salt and mix well.
  4. Make small patties from the mixture
  5. Deep fry turning sides until golden brown
